Sweet as a Peach Birthday for PP547
Welcome back to my little spot in the blogging universe! I created this peachy birthday card for the Paper Players #547 challenge. The clean and simple sketch inspired me to create an equally quick and easy card.
Here’s my card:
Here’s the sketch from Paper Players:
Measurements:
- The Early Espresso base measures 5-1/2 inches x 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
- After I ran the Pear Pizazz cardstock through the Big Shot in the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder, I trimmed it down. The finished dimensions are 5-3/8 inches by 4-1/8 inches.
- The Early Espresso mat for the DSP measures 4-1/4 inches by 3-1/8 inches.
- Then I trimmed the DSP to 3 inches by 4-1/8 inches. Next, I trimmed a piece of the DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap and adhered it to the flap using liquid glue.
- I also punched a 1-inch circle out of the DSP for the envelope seal. I ran it through the XYRON create-a-sticker machine and put it inside the envelope.
- As always, the white cardstock panel on the inside measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
- I used scraps of white cardstock for the birthday sentiment and the stamped peach on the front of the card.
Putting the Card Together:
- I started with the Pear Pizazz brick cardstock and used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere it to the card base.
- HINT: I use the liquid glue so I can have a little bit of time to gently move the cardstock into place. However, sometimes I don’t notice that I missed, which happened with this card. I won’t tell you where I missed, but I used the Early Espresso marker to fix it. I simply and carefully used the brush end to outline the Pear Pizazz layer.
- Next, I adhered the peachy DSP (designer series paper) to the Early Espresso mat.
- Then, I wrapped a length of the Pale Papaya and white woven ribbon around the DSP and Early Espresso cardstock. The ribbon does not go all the way around. The ends are attached to the back of the cardstock using small pieces of tear-and-tape.
- I used the birthday sentiment from the Sweet as a Peach photopolymer stamp set on scrap white cardstock using Soft Suede ink. Then, I used a stitched rectangle die to crop the sentiment. I didn’t want to add another layer to the sentiment, so I used the Early Espresso marker to outline the sentiment banner.
- I used another piece of tear-and-tape to attach the sentiment to the ribbon.
Stamping the Peach and Leaves
- At this point, all I needed to do for the front of the card was to stamp the peach and leaves. I used the tip for stamping the peach from the top, right-hand side of page 61 in the annual catalog.
- After practicing on my grid paper, and trying different combinations of color, I decided to first stamp the peach using a stamped off Daffodil Delight peach.
- Next, I used a sponge dauber to add Calypso Coral ink to the peach. Since the stamp is a DistINKtive stamp, the texture is automatically stamped. However, I did sponge more Calypso Coral ink in areas to shade the peach. The photopolymer stamp makes it very easy to line up the stamp and restamp it.
- Finally, I used another sponge dauber and Soft Suede ink to just highlight the bottom and the top of the peach. Then, I stamped it again.
- I’m pretty pleased with the result.
- I repeated the process for the leaves and stem using first Pear Pizazz ink and then Old Olive ink with a dauber.
- Finally, I used the coordinating die set to crop the peach and leaves.
- The only place I used dimensionals was under the peach and the leaves.
- Then, I stamped the sentiments on the inside panel and adhered it to the inside of the card.
- With that, I’d finished this card/envelope/seal coordinated set.
