A Dino Darlings Birthday for the March Pals’ Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month’s theme is “Birthday Celebrations.” The Pals hope to inspire you with card ideas and paper craft creations using Stampin’ Up! products. Links to the participant’s blogs can be found at the end of each post to help you “hop” along!

Here’s my Darling Dinos Birthday Card:

I’m also going to be uploading this card into the current Creative Creases #101, where anything goes with a fun fold!

I used Gray Granite, Pool Party, and Lost Lagoon colors for this Dino card. The Gray Granite mats actually come from the Otterly Adorable DSP! The Riverside Irregular Pearls fit perfectly in the corner of each layer. This card was so much fun to create!

I found these directions on Pinterest, and it comes from Stamp with Deb. I used her project sheet, instead of the YouTube video, mainly because I could just work from her project sheet easier than the video.

Measurements:

Instead of listing all the measurements, I thought it might be easier to show pictures of my template:

Once I had all the pieces trimmed, the rest of the card fell into place easily! I’m very glad that I thought ahead regarding the template so I can add it to my template/fun fold mini-binder so I can easily make another card.

Stamping, Coloring, & Assembly:

  • All the images which needed to be colored are stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink
  • I used pretty Peacock ink to stamp the front, middle and the middle section of the back sentiment
    • The sentiment on the back panel is a perfectly wonderful combination of two stamps: the Gray Granite part is all on one stamp and leaves a blank space for the inside sentiment, which I stamped in Pretty Peacock
  • I used the Pool Party and Gray Granite blends combos to color all the Darling Dinos
    • By adding layers of color with either the light or dark blends, I was able to achieve the varing colors
  • I stamped the egg pieces in Gray Granite using the splotch stamp included in the set
  • Crop all the pieces using the Darling Dino die set
  • Because of the bulk of all the paper layers, I only used my favorite adhesive, multipurpose liquid glue

Metallic Projects for MMM #232

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #232. Our host for this challenge, Dawn, chose Metallic as the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s an up-close picture of the sentiment on the front of the card:

I made this Z-fold card a more complicated card by adding the second flap. Take it from me, that additional flap is not needed. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t include it, therefore I’m not going to include it on the measurements and directions.

Sentiments:

  • I used gold embossing powder for all the sentiments
  • Make sure you wipe your cardstock with an embossing buddy, found in the embossing additions tool kit, to remove any lint, fingertip oils, etc.
  • Then stamp your sentiments using VersaMark ink and cover each sentiment with gold embossing powder.
  • Make sure you flick the back side of the cardstock to remove excess powder
  • Heat set the powder
  • I’ve found that if I let the heat tool run for about 30 seconds before I try to heat set the powder, especially metallic powders, the process is much faster and I don’t have to worry about burning the paper or breaking the embossing

Measurements:

  • The Pebbled Path base measures 11 by 4-1/4 inches, scored at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 inches
  • After I dry embossed another piece of Pebbled Path, I trimmed it to 3 by 4-1/2 inches
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 3 by 4-1/2 inches for the inside sentiment and your personal note
  • I used the Lovely & Sweet DSP (designer series paper) for this card
  • The front panel of DSP measures 4-1/8 by 2-5/8 inches
  • The inside panel of DSP measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches
  • Trim a coordinating piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Then, punch a 1-inch circle of contrasting DSP for the envelope seal and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker
  • I fussy cut the gold leaves on the front of the card from the Lovely & Sweet DSP
  • Thankfully, the Lovely & Sweet dies perfectly crop both the stamped images and the images on the DSP

Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise stated, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together
  • Adhere the trimmed DSP pieces to the front flap and inside of the card base
  • Adhere the dry-embossed Pebbled Path cardstock to the front of the card by centering it on the flap and base
  • Adhere the fussy-cut gold leaves
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the seed pod spray and adhere
  • Trim the front sentiment to your desired length and then cut chevrons in each end
  • Add dimensionals to the ends of the sentiment banner and liquid glue in the middle
  • Adhere the sentiment
  • Using the front flap as a guide, adhere the white cardstock to the inside base
  • I’ve found the easiest way to line up the front flap and the white cardstock is as follows:
    • Add adhesive to the BACK of the white cardstock
    • Lay the white cardstock face down on the back of the front flap
    • Carefully fold over the back base of the card to adhere the white cardstock
    • Since you are using multipurpose liquid adhesive, you will have a few seconds of wiggle room to slightly adjust the white cardstock, if needed
  • Add a brushed brass butterfly to the front sentiment banner
  • With that, you’ve finished this coordinated Z-fold card, envelope, and envelope seal

Lovely & Sweet with MMM # 225 and FMS634

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #225. I’m hosting this challenge, and I chose Florals as the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

I used the Lovely & Sweet stamp, die, and DSP (designer series paper) for this challenge:

Here’s my card:

I combined the Florals Make My Monday challenge with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Here’s the challenge sketch:

I did turn the direction so I had a portrait orientation, mainly because I knew I wanted to use the floral spray from the Lovely & Sweet stamp and die set.

Measurements:

  • The Pecan Pie base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • After stamping and cropping the floral spray from the bottom of a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock, I ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine using one of the basics embossing folders.
  • Trim the embossed cardstock to 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches.
  • Trim a piece of the Lovely & Sweet DSP to 5 by 4-1/4 inches.
  • I angled my DSP so that the high side is 5 inches high and the low side is 2-7/8 inches high.
  • Trim a piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Punch a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker to make the envelope seal.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 5-1/4 by 4 inches for the inside of the card.
  • I used a piece of leftover white cardstock for the sentiment banner.

Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces of the card together.
  • I stamped the floral spray using VersaMark ink and then covered it in white embossing powder, which I heat set with my heat tool.
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the floral spray.
  • Next, I stamped the sentiment using the happy birthday stamp from the Sweetly Scripted stamp set using Pecan Pie ink.
  • Add dimensionals to the end of the sentiment banner.
  • Next, adhere the angled DSP to the embossed cardstock.
  • Then adhere the floral spray using the dimensionals.
  • Add liquid glue to the middle of the back of the sentiment and add it to the front of the spray.
  • Trim the ends of the sentiment banner so they line up with the base of the card.
  • Adhere the embossed Pecan Pie cardstock to the base.
  • I stamped another birthday sentiment on the inside piece of cardstock.
  • Then, I stamped just a corner of the floral spray stamp on the white cardstock, and adhered it to the inside of the card.
  • Finally, I stamped the front of the envelope using the same partial floral spray stamp.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

International Jazz Day for MMM # 224

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #224. Our host for this challenge, Caz, chose International Jazz Day as the theme. Never fear, anything with music, a dancer, a singer, etc meets the challenge theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

I used the Zany Zoo bundle, and the balloons from Beautiful Balloons. The background of the card is hand-stamped using two stamps from Zany Zoo and black and Lemon Lime Twist ink. By the time I got it all put together, the background barely shows. I took my color cues from the Zany Zoo turtle. Often a card will evolve as I am working, and this one definitely was an evolution.

Measurements:

  • The Lemon Lime Twist card base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • The black mat measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. I cropped the black front piece from the inside of the black mat using a deckled rectangle die. No one will know, and it takes just a bit of bulk from the card.
  • The hand-stamped background measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
  • Next, I trimmed a piece of the 6 x 6 inch Brights DSP to 5-1/4 by 2 inches. I also trimmed a piece of this DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. After punching a 1-inch circle using the same DSP, I turned it over and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker so it would coordinate with the flap.
  • I had the white dot embossed cardstock, and cropped it using the next smallest deckled rectangle.
  • The white cardstock for the inside measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches.

Stamping, Cropping, & Assembly:

  • The singing turtle was easy – the Zany Zoo dies will crop out different characters from the DSP, and I used the die for this turtle. I added dimensionals to the back of the turtle and the cropped stool on which he’s standing.
  • HINT: The mini-dimensionals need to be cut down into 3 pieces for the feet of the stool. The easiest way to do this is horizontally so that you don’t have to deal with the pointed corner sticking out.
  • The die set also has this fabulous curtain die set, which I cropped from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.
  • After stamping the sentiment, I cropped it using one of the banners from the Stylish Shapes die set. Next, I added dimensionals to the back of the sentiment.
  • I adhered everything else using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Adhere the black cardstock to the base, and then the hand-stamped background to the black cardstock.
  • After wrapping a piece of black and white gingham ribbon around the Lemon Lime Twist DSP, adhere it to the front of the card.
  • Layer the deckled rectangle die cut, the white deckled rectangle die cut, and the curtains using your multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Finally, add your sentiment, stool, and turtle to the front panel.
  • The inside sentiment comes from the Zany Zoo stamp set, and I stamped it in black ink.
  • Then, I thought the sentiment looked lonely, so I added three balloons from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set, and added the black strings. I think this is my favorite part of the card.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Another Stadium Card for Cardz 4 Galz #220

Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge # 220. Our host, Billie A, picked Use Some Green for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

This week another coworker asked if I could make her daughter a stadium wave Fluffiest Friends birthday card. Turns out, her daughter’s favorite color is green. Perfect timing! You can see my previous wave card here.

Here’s my Fluffiest Friends stadium wave card:

Truly, if you can trim and score cardstock, you can create this card!

I’m also entering this card in the Creative Creases Challenge.

Once again, I used a video by Stamp with Tami for the directions. I followed her measurements and scoring lines to a T. This card is pretty darn easy and I could do the majority of this card without help, including scoring the base. I also knew the size of the cardstock for the wave mechanism is 8 by 7-3/4 inches and just used her scoring measurements. Then it’s just a matter of trimming on the 8-inch side in 1-inch increments. Tami’s video is easy to follow and she’s very open about this being a new-to-her fold. I am still amazed that she worked out the measurements and directions after watching a video by a Dutch card maker, and she did it without the help of translations.

Minor Changes to Tami’s Video:

While making and adjusting this version of the Stadium Wave Fluffiest Friends birthday card, there are a few changes I made or will make next time.

  • After coloring and adhering all these adorable Friends, I attached them to the wave mechanism. Then, I realized how ugly the backs of the critters looked. That’s when I cropped another set of critters using the die set. Next, I had to carefully trim as necessary to adhere the white cardstock to the back of the colored critters.

Before and After:

  • It is necessary to adhere the white cardstock on the inside before adhering the wave mechanism. Thankfully, I remembered this detail in time.
  • Once again, I used ribbon instead of a belly band to keep the card closed. I have an idea for the next card, and if it works, I’ll update this post with a link to the new card.
  • This time, I adhered the ribbon before I adhered the white cardstock on the inside. I only had the end of the roll of this faux suede ribbon, so I trimmed it in half and used tear & tape to adhere the ends under the white cardstock.
  • I used more of the tabs than just the first two critters. The tabs measure 1/4 by 1 inch and raise the critters above the next wave.
  • This wave card definitely has more of an impact when opened from the backside of the card. Next time, I will make the card so that it opens down, if that makes sense. I’ll be sure to update this post with a link to the new version of the card.
  • Tami didn’t use dimensionals, and I didn’t either. Even though both of my stadium wave cards will be hand-delivered, there’s already enough bulk. Dimensionals might make it difficult to fit inside a medium white envelope.

I hope you watch Tami’s video and create your own stadium wave card. It’s so much fun to create and looks amazing!

New Online Exclusives are now available!

I’ve already ordered some of these products and have more on the way. I can’t wait to start playing with them! Take a look at just some of the new products available!

I love the script used for these sentiments. I’ve used the birthday one, and it fits so well on a landscape 5-1/2 by 4-1/4 inch card!

The stamps for these adorable critters are two sided stamps: the outline image is on one side and the animal is on the other. The sample card uses the animal stamp.

Personally, I think this background stamp is gorgeous! Don’t delay in ordering as it just came back in stock. I’ve got an order on its way to me, but this stamp might just be worth paying shipping for just this item.

I had previously ordered the natural polka dot ribbon, and now have the rest of the suite of products on the way. This suite would be suitable to masculine or feminine cards, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
