Bird Banter for Global Design Project 126
Decisions, decisions for Petal Passion DSP.
The Petal Passion DSP, from the Occasions catalog, is so pretty in the black and white. However, for this sheet, I started coloring the dots using the Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral light and dark blends. The result of my random coloring is below:
The resulting colored polka dots were exactly what I wanted, so I turned the DSP over to put Tombow on the back so I could adhere it to the Calypso Coral mat. I know Blends bleed through, but when I found this pattern, I had to make a decision:
At this point, I hadn’t decided on a stamp set yet and I started thinking since I hadn’t used Bird Banter in a while, the polka dot leaves would be perfect with those cute birds.
Bird Banter
First, let me share my finished card:
The bottom mat is Bermuda Bay, the middle mat is Calypso Coral. Since I cropped the ovals I needed from the Layering Ovals die set out of each mat, they looked pretty darn ugly before everything was put together. Saves paper, cuts down (ever so slightly) on mailing weights, and no one knows after it’s all put together.
This is not a toucan……
My first idea was to use the “A little toucan of my appreciation” for the sentiment. As I began to color, I realized that I’d actually stamped the white oval with the parrot sitting on the branch. Changing the sentiment, which is cropped close and popped up with dimensionals, was an easy fix. Just like that, I have a birthday card instead of a thank you card.
I stamped another parrot on a scrap piece of Whisper White and then fussy cut it out. The stamped image right on the oval was because it would have been difficult to fussy cut the feet.Mini-dimensionals add the depth to the back of the parrot. Dimensionals allowed the sentiment to sit on top of the parrot.
Global Design Project #126 Sketch
My oval is more in the middle than the sketch but the rest works. At least I thought it did but just noticed the ribbon on the sketch. I’m going to leave what I have because right now this card words for males or females.
