Welcome to my first post in 2022, so Happy New Year! My hope for all of us is that 2022 is the year we can finally begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel for COViD. I took a much needed break during the second week of my Christmas break from school and simply relaxed and recharged. Now, I am happily back in the swing of things.
Julie chose the theme of spots or stripes for the C4G #287 challenge. So many fun possibilities, especially since the card can be for any aged guy. Mine is for a good friend at work who has had some major surgery. When you finish here, I hope you will hop over to the challenge page to see the creations of the rest of the design team. I look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery!
Here’s my card:
I don’t know if it’s possible to take the theme to an extreme, but this fun DSP pattern has spots in a striped pattern.. I carried those horizontal stripes onto the Misty Moonlight DSP behind the sentiment and the sloth. Then, I used the fine tip glue pen to create my own epoxy drops on some of the Misty Moonlight spots surrounding the sentiment/mat/sloth focal images. These are very difficult to photograph, but in person they do reflect light and shine.
Measurements:
The Granny Apple Green base measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent card.
Next, I trimmed a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. Then, I used the largest square from the stitched shapes die set to crop a square from the center of the cardstock for the mat. Then, I used my Simply Scored scoring tool to score horizontal 1/4 inch lines inside the square.
This very colorful DSP paper comes from the Pattern Party DSP pack, which can be earned by hosting a workshop. There’s 48 sheets in this fabulous pack of paper. One side of each is a colorful pattern, while the reverse sides are all black and white patterns. Fun!! I love black and white patterns and have been using this DSP pack since the current catalog launched.
I trimmed the DSP for the front of the card to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. While I had this DSP out, I also trimmed a piece to 6 inches by 2-1/5 inches for the envelope flap.
Then, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches for the inside. I used scraps of white for the sloth and sentiment.
A Quick Card:
The sloth and the sentiments on the outside and inside are from the Back on Your Feet stamp set.
I stamped the sloth on white cardstock using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad. Then, I used the light and dark blends combos for Crumb Cake and Soft Suede to color the sloth and the branch. I pulled the Granny Apple Green from the DSP and used the light and dark blends to color the leaves. Then, I cropped the image using one of the ovals from the Stitched Shapes dies.
I stamped both the outside and inside sentiments using the Misty Moonlight ink pad.
I used the triple banner punch to create the chevron tag for the sentiment.
Finally, I trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap and punched a one-inch circle from a scrap of Misty Moonlight DSP. As always, I ran the circle through the XYRON create-a-sticker to make a seal for the envelope.
With that, I’d finished this quick card/envelope/seal coordinated set.

Welcome to the Cardz 4 Guyz #282 biweekly challenge! Jolanda picked “any animal” for the theme, which leaves a plethora of options for your card! I hope you will hop over to Cardz4Guyz.blogspot.com to see the great cards from the rest of the design team members. I can’t wait to see your individual cards in our gallery.
Here’s my card:
Both black and white DSP (designer series paper) patterns come from the Playful Patterns DSP pack. This 48 sheet pack of 12 x 12 DSP has very colorful patterns on one side of each piece. The back side patterns are all black and white patterns. At first, I overlooked this host choice, but black and white patterns are always useful. The Old Olive DSP comes from the Regals 6 x 6 inch DSP. It is a retired pattern, but I haven’t finished with those papers yet and I really like the patterns. Therefore, I used it on this card.
Measurements:
The Old Olive cardstock base measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The black. & white chevron patterned DSP measures 5-3/8 inches by 4-18 inches. I also trimmed a piece of that DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
I used a polka dot pattern with a black background for the first diagonal piece of DSP. It measures 4 inches by 3 inches. I also punched a 1 inch circle for the envelope seal.
Next, the Old Olive diagonal piece measures 2-3/4 inches by 3-1/2 inches.
The turtle and sentiment white cardstock panel was stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink then cropped using the stitched rectangle dies. The final cropped measurement is 2-1/4 inches by 3-1/2 inches.
Finally, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock for the inside panel. It measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
What I Did:
I’m trying something new with this blog post. I made a video of the measurements and how I put everything together. Please be kind, it’s the first time I made a video for YouTube.
This Love, Santa Tag Kit is adorable and an easy way to make your own gift tags! Take a look at this video!

Welcome to another C4G biweekly challenge! The theme for this challenge is “thinking of you” but I put a little bit of a spin on it. I think that a get well card means I am thinking of you without actually coming out and saying it, so that’s what I did.
Here’s my card:
I’ve always loved this sloth from the Back on Your Feet cling stamp set. This set also includes a giraffe whose neck is tied in a knot and a turtle stuck on his back. Originally I thought I’d use a clean and simple card with the turtle. However, after I finished the sloth card, I decided I liked it better.
Here’s the alternate get well card using the turtle:
Originally, I used my blends to color another turtle, but I really wanted clean and simple. The black and white turtle fits the bill a bit better.
Both of these cards were easy-peasy cards, which makes them even cuter, in my opinion.
Colors and Measurements
Both of these cards start with a Night of Navy base. I trimmed one sheet of navy cardstock into two 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, and scored them at 4-1/4.
The white mats for the fronts of the card measure 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I dry embossed the sloth one with the subtle embossing folder. I used the pinewood planks embossing folder for the turtle card.
The green DSP on the turtle card comes from the Oh So Ombre 6 x 6 inch DSP pack available for a few more days in the Sale-a-Bration catalog. This DSP is FREE with a $50 purchase!
Sometimes things just work out perfectly, and for these cards that’s exactly what happened. I already had colored the sloth for a previous project, but didn’t use it. I’d also embossed Granny Apple Green and Crumb Cake cardstock using the pinewood planks embossing folder. That previous project was also supposed to use the sloth sentiment. Winner! Winner! All this just reinforces the fact that I need to keep all these unused parts for a future project!
The leaves behind the sloth come from the Forever Fern bundle. Thankfully, they match the details on the sloth’s attached leaves.
I thought the Early Espresso faux suede ribbon just finished off the sloth card.
After I thought I’d finished the turtle card, I realized I needed to add something. Therefore, I added three of the black matte dots which draw your eyes to the center of the card with the focal image and sentiment.
I trimmed a piece of Old Olive DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for each envelope flap. After adhering and trimming both flaps, I’d finished this pair of card/envelope sets.
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.
