Cardz 4 Galz #247 is All About Stripes

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-2.jpg

Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz # 247. Our host for this edition of the challenge, Dawn, chose Stripes  for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

I let the gorgeous daisy DSP (designer series paper) do all the work for my card.

Here it is:

Measurements:

  • The Pretty Peacock base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • I trimmed a piece of Cheerful Daisies DSP to 3-3/4 by 5-3/8 inches, then trimmed it down to 3/4 by 5-3/8 stripes
    • Make sure you keep the stripes in order or you will need to figure it out when you put the pieces together
    • I outlined the stripes using a Pretty Peacock marker to make them pop
  • I also trimmed a piece of the daisy DSP to 5-1/4 by 1/2 inches for the inside of the card
  • The final piece of DSP I trimmed measures 2-1/2 by 6 inches for the envelope flap
  • I punched a coordinating piece of DSP using a 1-inch circle punch and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • The Crushed Curry mat under the DSP strips measures 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 5-1/4 by 4 inches for the inside of the card
  • I used pieces of scrap cardstock for the sentiment banner on the front of the card

Stamping & Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
  • I did a dry-fit of the stripes to place them on the Crushed Curry cardstock using my AdTech removable tape to guarantee my spacing
  • I removed one stripe at a time in order to add liquid glue and adhere the pieces to the cardstock
  • I stamped the outside sentiment using the Happy & Heartfelt sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on a scrap piece of white cardstock
  • Next, I cropped the sentiment and a mat of Pretty Peacock cardstock using two of the deckled rectangle dies
  • Then, I tied a piece of the Copper Clay ribbon around the Crushed Curry mat using the ribbon saving technique shown below:
  • I adhered the white sentiment banner to the Pretty Peacock mat and added dimensionals to the back of it
    • Make sure you place your dimensionals so that they will straddle the ribbon to prevent an uneven layer
  • The last thing for the front was the addition of three Wild Wheat enamel dots in a triangle pattern
  • After adhering the stripe of DSP to the inside white cardstock panel, I stamped the sentiment using Pretty Peacock ink
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

A Four-fer Card for Make My Monday # 248

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #248. Our host for this challenge, Heather, chose Make it Green for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my Darling Dino card:

Here’s Where the Four-fer Comes Together:

Obviously, the first challenge is Make My Monday!

The second challenge gave me the color combination of lime, blue, and green with the Color Throwdown challenge # 829.

#ctd829 & #colorthrowdown

The third challenge is the Double Trouble Challenge #187, “3-2-1 Recipe “SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing”

I have 3 balloons, 2 flowers, and one dinosaur. Here’s their challenge banner:

As I have done many times in the pas with fun folds, the fourth challenge is Creative Creases # 101

Isn’t it fabulous when the challenges all work together? Love it!

Measurements for This Z-Fold Card:

  • The Garden Green base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches
  • Trim a piece of Balmy Blue 6 x 6 inch DSP (designer series paper) to 5-3/8 by 2 inches for the front flap
  • Trim another piece of Balmy Blue DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • At this point, I try to remember to punch a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP for the envelope seal, then run it through my XYRON create-a-sticker
  • Trim a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock for the inside to 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches
  • You will need two pieces of Garden Green cardstock, each measuring 3-1/2 by 4-3/4 inches to use one on the outside and one on the inside
  • Next, trim two pieces of white cardstock to 3-3/8 inches by 4 inches
  • With careful planning, I was able to stamp all the pieces from the Darling Dino stamp set using one piece of white cardstock measuring 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches
  • I had scraps of Garden Green to use for the grass and Balmy Blue for the sentiment banner on the front

Stamping, Coloring, and Die-Cutting:

  • Using the cloud stamp from the Playing in the Rain stamp set, I added Balmy Blue clouds to the white cardstock for both the inside and outside of the card
  • Then, I used a blending brush and lightly added Balmy Blue ink to both pieces of white cardstock
    • The color is very subtle, but the result turned out much better than just using white
  • After stamping all the Darling Dino pieces using Momento Tuxedo Black ink, I cropped them with the coordinating dies
  • Do you recognize the Garden Green grass on the front of the card? If you guessed it’s from the Frozen Edges die set, good for you!
  • Using the grass stamp from the Dinos set, I stamped it using Garden Green ink on the front of the die cut grass piece
  • I used the splotchy stamp from the Dinos set and stamped it using Garden Green ink on white cardstock, then cropped the two pieces of the egg
    • I outlined the egg using a black Stamping Write maker so it would pop off the background
  • Next, I used black ink to stamp both the outside and inside sentiments
    • The sentiment I used for the inside is actually two stamps: Roar means/in dinosaur is the first stamp and You’re the Best is the second
    • You can see how I used these sentiments using other combinations here and here
  • I colored all the Darling Dino pieces using the Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green blends combos

Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces of the card together
  • After adhering the white cardstock pieces to each Garden Green piece of cardstock, I started layering all the other pieces
  • I started with the grass, then tucked the flowers in behind it
  • I did need to dry-fit the rest of the card pieces together before adhering them down
  • Once I figured out where the balloons would live, I drew black lines for the string down to the dino going down into the where the egg would be
  • The Garden Green balloon and the Granny Apple green balloon were adhered directly to the cardstock
  • Add a dimensional to the Balmy Blue balloon and adhere to the white cardstock
  • Adhere the splotched egg to the dinosaur, then add dimensionals to the combined pieces and adhere to the white cardstock
  • Add dimensionals to the cropped sentiment banner and add to the top of the white cardstock
  • I had the rock stamp already cropped out and decided to add another flower and the top of the egg to the inside corner of the white cardstock

With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Mediterranean Blooms for the SU! Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop!

Welcome to the September, 2024 SU! Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop! Each month, a group of demos share fun fold cards for a blog hop. I always learn something new and thoroughly enjoy seeing the creations of the other demos. We hope that you will use the line-up below to hop along with us.

Here’s my Mediterranean Blooms Suite z-fold card:

As always with fun folds, I will be uploading this to the Creative Creases Challenge. You can see my other Mediterranean Blooms fun fold card here.

Measurements:

  • The basic card is a z-fold card so the base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches
  • The Citrus Blooms DSP for the front flap measures 2 by 4-1/8 inches
  • Trim another piece of the same DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Then, punch a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • Trim two pieces of Old Olive and one piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock to 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • You will need a piece of the Citrus Blooms DSP to crop the front swag of oranges
    • Don’t you just LOVE when the coordinating dies work with the DSP?

Cropping, Stamping, & Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together, especially since this card will already be bulky
  • After stamping the sentiment from the Citrus Blooms stamp set in black ink, crop it using the smallest circle die
  • Emboss the Daffodil Delight and one of the Old Olive cardstock pieces using the exposed brick embossing folder
  • Center and then crop the large outline die on the embossed Old Olive cardstock
  • Do the same with the embossed Daffodil Delight cardstock
  • Using the large outline die and the inside leafy die, crop both on the remaining Old Olive cardstock
  • Crop the large orange and leafy piece of DSP using the coordinating die
  • Stamp the single orange and leaves using Daffodil Delight ink in the center of the white cardstock
  • Stamp the sentiment in the center of the white cardstock using Tuxedo Black ink
  • Adhere the embossed and cropped Old Olive cardstock to the white cardstock, then adhere those pieces to the inside of the card
  • Adhere the Daffodil Delight and Old Olive leafy cropped pieces together
  • Add the large orange and leafy cropped DSP to the center of the Daffodil Delight/Old Olive front
  • Adhere the DSP to the front flap of the card
  • Center the cropped front so that it will line up with the cropped inside of the card
  • Adhere the cropped front to front flap of the card
    • HINT:  It is very important that you only adhere the left of the front of the cropped piece to the front flap.
  • Add the coordinating Daffodil Delight opal rounds to the centers of the orange blooms
  • I adhered a piece of the retired faux suede ribbon under the circle sentiment using tear & tape, mainly because I wanted something minor to pick up the Early Expresso branches
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment circle and adhere
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

Create a Background for MMM # 235

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #235. Our host for this bi-weekly challenge, Billie A., chose Create a Background for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

If you like to use embossing powders and blending brushes, creating this card is for you!

Measurements:

  • The Garden Green base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • The white cardstock mat measures 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches
  • I trimmed two pieces of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches, using one for the front of the card, and the other for the inside
  • I used scraps of Garden Green for the leaf swag and another one for the sentiment
  • The envelope flap DSP measures 6 by 2-1/2 inches
  • Finally, after fussy cutting the front leaf swag, I punched a 1-inch circle from the embossed scrap piece for the envelope seal and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker

Embossing, Blending, & Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
  • After wiping down one piece of the white cardstock using my embossing buddy, I stamped the Leaf Collection background stamp using VersaMark ink
  • Then, I covered the ink with some Basics Wow white embossing powder and heat set it
  • Using blending brushes and Old Olive, Garden Green, and Mossy Meadow ink pads, I randomly blended the colors on the white cardstock
    • HINT: After your finish blending the green colors on the cardstock, swipe the front with a lint-less paper towel to remove excess ink from the white heat set embossing powder
  • Wipe down a piece of Garden Green cardstock with your embossing buddy, stamp a section of the leaf swag (making sure you get the piece you want to fussy cut) and the sentiment using VersaMark ink
  • Cover the ink with white embossing powder and heat set
  • Crop the sentiment using a die of your choice
  • Fussy cut the leaf swag
  • Adhere the white mat to the base of the card
  • Cut a length of diagonal white ribbon for the front of the card
  • The following set of photos from a previous posts shows how I have been adhering ribbon with a faux square knot:
  • After adhering the ribbon around the embossed front of the card, adhere the front to the white mat
  • Arrange the leaf swag and adhere it under the ribbon
  • Add dimensionals to the back of your cropped sentiment making sure the dimensionals will straddle the ribbon and adhere
  • Since the sentiment can be an all-occasion one, I haven’t stamped an inside sentiment yet
    • HINT: I used some removable adhesive to keep the white cardstock inside the card until I decide the purpose of this card
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!

Going on Safari with Cardz 4 Galz #216

Welcome to the first bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge for 2024! Our host for this challenge, Dawn W., chose On Safari as the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see how the rest of the design team members used sequins in their projects. We always love it when you play along with our themes, so please remember to upload your project to our gallery.

Here’s my On Safari card:

Measurements:

  • The Old Olive base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • The Old Olive cardstock frame piece measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • I used two pieces of white cardstock, each measuring 4 by 5-1/4 inches. One is under the frame on the front and the other is on the inside of the card.
  • I trimmed a piece of Sweet Sorbet 6 x 6 inch DSP (designer series paper) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Then I punched a 1-inch circle of Old Olive 6 x 6 inch DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
  • That’s it for the measurements.

Stamping and Coloring:

  • After running the frame piece of Old Olive cardstock through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Stitched Greenery die, I used the Stylish Shapes dies for the banner and the four squares on the frame.
  • Using Pecan Pie ink, I stamped the vines and branches on the white cardstock for the front.
  • HINT: line up the frame piece of cardstock on top of the white cardstock. I used a pencil to very, very lightly mark the corners of each square so I knew where to stamp the vines and branches. After stamping, and letting the ink dry thoroughly, I carefully erased the corner marks. I did the same thing for the sentiment banner.
  • I used the Old Olive and Pecan Pie markers to color the vines and branches.
  • Then I stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and let it thoroughly dry before erasing the pencil marks.
  • Using a 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock, I stamped one monkey, then punched it out. Then I repeated the process three more times.
  • HINT: By stamping and punching one monkey at a time I was able to minimize the waste, which left me with a decent size leftover piece.
  • I colored the monkeys using the Crumb Cake combo blends markers. Then, I added rosy cheeks and touches of pink in the ears using the lightest natural tone blend.
  • Using the trio of bows die from the Playing in the Rain die set, I cropped four Sweet Sorbet bows for the monkeys. Cute!
  • Since the front sentiment allows this card to be an all-occasion card, I didn’t stamp a sentiment on the inside. I will do so when I decide for which occasion I will use this card.

Assembly:

  • I wanted to make sure that the frame didn’t collapse on itself, so I lined the frame of the Old Olive cardstock frame using foam adhesive strips.
  • Between the sentiment banner and the squares I added mini-dimensionals.
  • Next, I adhered the white cardstock to the adhesive strips on the frame.
  • Using multipurpose liquid glue, I adhered the white cardstock to the base of the card.
  • Then, I used liquid glue to adhere the adorable bows to the monkeys.
  • After dry-fitting the monkeys, I carefully added liquid glue to the pieces of the monkeys that would be on the outside of the frame.
  • I added two mini-dimensionals under each monkey to adhere it to the white cardstock.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thanks for stopping by today.
