Just Tag It for MMM # 195

Welcome to the newest two-week Make My Monday challenge!  Our host for #195, Mary V., chose Just Tag It as the theme.  I’ve seen the creations from the rest of the design team, and they are as fabulous as they are varied.  You don’t want to miss the inspiration, so please visit the challenge site when you are finished here.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you create and add to the gallery.

I created a fun fold card using the Adorable Owls stamp set and the Happy Forest DSP (designer series paper).  The Adorable Owls stamp set is available FREE with a $50 purchase until midnight (CST) on 02/28/2023!  Don’t delay!

Here’s my card:

This fun fold will stand up on it’s own, as shown in the top set of photos.  I’m also entering it in the current Creative Creases Challenge.  I thoroughly enjoy that challenge because I love creating fun folds and that’s the only requirement since the rest of the challenge is always anything goes.

Taking part in the Creative Creases Challenge means that I also get to enter this card in the Double Trouble Challenge as well.

Measurements:

  • The Old Olive base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • Make a tick mark on the open side of the card two inches up from the bottom.
  • Then trim the front of the card diagonally from the top fold corner down to the tick mark.
  • The Old Olive flap measures 5-1/2 by 3-5/8 inches, scored at 1 inch so the front part of the flap measures 4-1/2 by 3-5/8 inches.
  • Trim two pieces of Calypso Coral cardstock. The first measures 3-3/8 by 4-3/8 inches. The second piece measures 4 inches by 2-1/8 inches.
  • The ribbon covers most of the top, but I did punch it using a tag topper punch.
  • Next, I trimmed two pieces of white cardstock. The front tap piece measures 2 by 3-3/8 inches. The piece for the inside sentiment measures 2 by 3-7/8 inches.
  • I used scraps for the two Stylish Shapes circles for the inside owls. Since the backside of the flying owl would show, I also cropped an Old Olive circle to adhere to the back of the finished owl circle.

Trimming and Adhering the DSP layers:

  • The inside DSP piece measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • The top flap DSP measures 3-1/8 by 4-1/4 inches.
  • To create the diagonal piece of Calypso Coral DSP, I first trimmed the piece to 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches.
    • Then, I added a tick mark at 2 inches from the bottom on the right hand side of the DSP.
    • Next, I trimmed the DSP diagonally from the top left corner to the tick mark on the right hand side.
  • Then, I trimmed another piece of the Calypso Coral DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. I punched a 1 inch circle of the inside DSP for the envelope seal.
  • The Old Olive flap must be adhered first. I just eyeballed it to center the flap. Line up the crease of the flap with the top of the base of the card and adhere using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Then, I adhered the inside and diagonal pieces of DSP using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • The same goes for the Calypso Coral cardstock and DSP on the flap of the card for the front.

Stamping and Coloring:

  • I stamped all three owls and the flap and inside sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black.
  • Use an embossing buddy to clean off the Calypso Coral DSP. Stamp the sentiment using Versamark and cover with black embossing powder. Heat set with a heat tool.
  • I colored the owls using the Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake blends combos.
  • The faces and torsos were colored using the ivory blend.
  • I used the light Old Olive blend for the eyes.
  • Finally, I used the SU300 from the medium deep natural tone blends for the beaks and feet.
  • After coloring, I cropped two of the owls using the middle circle from the Stylish Shapes die set. Then, I adhered the middle owl to the Old Olive circle I’d previously cropped.
  • Stamp the sentiments on the flap and the inside using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Adhere the owl tag to the Calypso Coral cardstock Add dimensionals under the tag..
  • Tie a bow using the Faux Suede Early Espresso ribbon and attach with a glue dot.
  • Add faux stitching around the inside sentiment panel using a black marker.
  • Adhere the inside sentiment panel and owls using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated fun fold card, envelope, and envelope seal.
  • NOTE: This card will require extra postage because of all the layers.

All About Hearts for the January IRBH

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January 2023 Blog Hop! If your craft projects aren’t already filled with hearts, then you might be behind the eight ball. No worries – we are here to help. We are excited to share our heart-filled creations with you and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I used the Sale-a-Bration Adorable Owls stamp set..  Yes, I’ve used them a number of times already.  You can see those posts here and here.  The second link has the directions and pictures for creating the book binding twisted easeI card.  For this hop, I also created another twisted easel card because they are so easy and fast.  The person to whom you give this card will think it took a really long time to create, but it will be our secret that it comes together in a snap.

Here’s my card:

The Front of This Card:

  • Since all the measurements are on the previous post (linked above), I am concentrating on what I did for the front of the card.
  • I used the Country Lane DSP from the current mini-catalog for this card. The colors I used, Petal Pink, Balmy Blue, Sweet Sorbet, Mint Macaron, and Mossy Meadow, all come from the paper.
  • The SAB catalog contains this Adorable Owls stamp set FREE for a qualifying purchase of $50. One of the card examples has the owls stamped but not colored and I really like the look of them. Therefore, I stamped the owls in Mossy Meadow and fussy cut them out. Fussy cutting for a left-handed person takes more time than a right-handed person because we are going in the opposite (correct?) direction, but it’s so worth it with these owls.
  • HINT: Since this ink isn’t the Momento ink, you really need to let it dry completely before using the blend pens. The Mossy Meadow ink will bleed if you try to color it too quickly after being stamped.
  • Then, I fussy cut one of the large hearts and another smaller one, both from the Country Lane DSP.
  • I used the Sweet Sorbet dark blend for the bowtie, then outlined it with a white gel pen.
  • I used the Petal Pink dark blend for the beaks and feet. The light blend is on the ears and torso section.
  • On to all the cropping that I needed to do.
    • Using the Framed Florets die set, I cropped two ovals – one in Mint Macaron and another in the same DSP I used for the front of the card.
    • With the same die set, I cropped two Sweet Sorbet sprays of branches, and three Mossy Meadow individual leaves.
    • The cute little butterflies come from the Elephants on Parade die set. I colored them in Balmy Blue and Sweet Sorbet.
    • I stamped the sentiment using the Adorable Owls stamp set and cropped it with one of the banner dies from the Stylish Shapes die set.
  • I added dimensionals under the owls, the larger heart, and the sentiment.
  • After dry-fitting all the pieces, I used multipurpose liquid glue to attach the pieces. Then, I adhered the dimensionals to the front of the card.
  • I finished the front of the card off with three basic pearl jewels.
  • I used a strip of hearts from the bicycle DSP as a stop for the easel. To do this, I needed to cut the mini-dimensionals in half, then I lined the whole strip with them.
  • Finally, I outlined the small heart using my Sweet Sorbet marker and adhered it to the corner of the white cardstock using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

January – April 2023 Mini-Catalog Product Suite

As a hobbyist (looking to grow) demonstrator, I am usually very selective with purchases for the mini-catalog.  However, After getting my paper share from Brian King, I have decided to get this RAIN OR SHINE Suite Collection!!   The DSP in the mini-catalog is absolutely adorable, as is the bundle.  However, the DSP really needs to be seen, and added to your DSP collection!  The description says that this is Specialty DSP, and that doesn’t do it justice!  The pages have images that have already been dry-embossed and heat set.  The dies for this little suite of happiness match up with the DSP.  I am getting ready to place an order for this suite before the end of the week!

Look at all this happiness!  Click on the image below to view this full screen.

Here’s the February Paper Pumpkin Kit to Coordinate with the Rain or Shine Suite!

If you live in the U.S. and do not already have a demonstrator, I would love the opportunity to serve you.

If you want to place an order, please do so using the host code Y6CTX7D3 when prompted.  Any order for $50 can not only earn a FREE Sale-a-Bration item, but also a product from me!

If you want to place an order of over $150, (think of the FREE Sale-a-Bration items!) please contact me before placing your order so you can also qualify for STAMPING REWARDS, giving you even more FREE ITEMS!

Something with Wings for Make My Monday # 192

Welcome to the Make My Monday challenge #192 for this two weeks.  The theme for this challenge is to pick a favorite challenge from 2022.   I couldn’t resist using the Adorable Owls stamp set from the current Sale-a-Bration promotion.  Therefore, I chose the something with wings challenge from November 22, 2022.  When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the themes chosen and cards made by the rest of the design team..

Here’s my card:

Yes, this is another twisted easel card.  You can see a couple of others I created here.

Once I finished this baby boy card, I really wanted to make a baby girl card.  However, I used the Elephants on Parade stamp set instead.

Here’s the baby girl card:

Since the baby boy owl card meets the challenge theme, I’m using the directions for that card.

There are so many videos for creating a twisted easel card.  The one I saw a few weeks ago incorporated a book binding side, which I really liked.  I can’t for the life of me find the original video I watched, and I am sorry for that problem.

Since this is a fun fold, I will be submitting it to the Creative Creases challenge!

Measurements:

  • Balmy Blue cardstock base trimmed to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches.
  • Score the base along the long side at 5-1/2 and 6-1/2 inches.
  • Next, score the 4-1/2 by 4-1/4 inch rectangle diagonally as shown in the picture below:
  • Please note that this is the inside view.
  • Trim two pieces of DSP to 4-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches. Trim one of the pieces diagonally to use for the back of the standing easel. For this card, this is the two Balmy Blue pattern pieces of DSP (designer series paper).
  • Trim DSP to 7/8 by 4-1/8 inches for the bookbinding on the front.
  • Next, trim a piece of white cardstock for the inside to 4-1/8 by 4-3/8 inches.
  • Finally, trim a piece of DSP for the envelope flap to 6 by 2-1/2 inches.

Assembly:

  • Adhere the bookbinding piece on the inside of the card. The picture below shows the placement of the adhesive for both the bookbinding part and the white cardstock on the inside.
  • I wrapped a piece of Old Olive ribbon around the piece of DSP for the bookbinding section on the front of the card.
  • Adhere the bookbinding piece to the front using dimensionals to allow for the ribbon.
  • Adhere the triangle piece of DSP to the outside of the card as shown below:
  • Adhere the whole rectangle of DSP to the bottom triangle on the outside of the card as shown below:
  • Please note that you only put adhesive on the bottom portion of the triangle. The top half of the DSP should not be adhered.
  • TA-DAH! You’ve created a twisted easel fun fold card. This card will fit in a medium SU! envelope.

The Owls:

  • Stamp the sentiment for the front and inside of the card. The sentiments comes from the Happy & Heartfelt stamp set.
  • Crop the sentiments. For the front, I used one of the square dies from the Stylish Shapes die set. I also cropped a small banner from silver foil to layer under the sentiment. I stamped the inside sentiment in the corner in Night of Navy directly on the white cardstock.
  • The sentiment placed diagonally was also stamped in Night of Navy and cropped using a rectangle die.
  • Please note that the angle of the standing easel will depend on the placement of your inside sentiment.
  • Add dimensionals on the reverse of the front and inside sentiments, especially needed for the inside sentiment.
  • I used my clear Wink of Stella pen to outline each of the cropped sentiments.
  • Then, I stamped the owls using Night of Navy ink. The bowtie is colored with the dark Night of Navy blend.  I used a white gel pen to outline the bowtie.
  • I used the light Balmy Blue blend to color the eyes.
  • The cropped white oval comes from the Framed Florets die set.
  • While I had the florets dies out, I cropped two sprays from DSP and a third one from silver foil.
  • Next, I colored and cropped the butterfly and balloon using the Elephants on Parade bundle.
  • I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the oval and sprays.
  • Then, I used dimensionals to adhere the owls, butterfly, balloon, and front sentiment.
  • Finally, I added blue gems to the front and the inside sentiment.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated twisted easel card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Celebrating Sale-a-Bration for the January Pals’ Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!  This month our blog hop theme is Sale-a-Bration!  We hope you will be inspired by all the beautiful creations the Pals have made for you!  As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment.  You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I used the SAB owl stamp set (earn with a $50 purchase), a piece of window sheet, and the Dainty Flowers DSP (earn with a $50 purchase).  I’ve made two twisted easel cards for you, both of which use the Dainty Flowers DSP.

Here are my twisted easel cards:

The above card turned out to be much more involved than. I originally planned.  Therefore, I created a second card for you to see how just trimming and scoring the DSP and cardstock can turn these papers into a beautiful card.  Honestly, the DSP does all the work.

Here’s my second card:

There are so many videos for creating a twisted easel card.  The one I saw a few weeks ago incorporated a book binding side, which I really liked.  I can’t for the life of me find the original video I watched, and I am sorry for that problem.

For simplicity purposes, I am including the measurements and directions for the second card on this post.  I’ve already got all the pieces cut for two more twisted easel cards, so I will include in progress pictures for one of them..  Actually, you are getting a sneak preview of my Make My Monday Challenge design team card going live on Monday, 01/16/2023.http://mmmchallengeblog.blogspot.com/

Since this is a fun fold, I will be submitting it to the Creative Creases challenge!

Measurements:

  • Rich Razzelberry cardstock base trimmed to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches.
For the example card, this is the Old Olive piece of DSP.

  • Stamp the sentiment for the front and inside of the card. The front sentiment comes from the Framed Florets stamp set.
  • Crop the sentiments. For the front, I used one of the square dies from the Stylish Shapes die set. The inside sentiment was also cropped using the banners from the Stylish Shapes dies.
  • Add dimensionals on the reverse of the sentiments, especially needed for the inside sentiment.
  • Please note that the angle of the standing easel will depend on the placement of your inside sentiment.
  • TA-DAH! You’ve created a twisted easel fun fold card. This card will fit in a medium SU! envelope.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated twisted easel card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
