If you’ve read my blog before, you know I love combining challenges! The card I created today meets both the Global Design Project #349 and the Freshly Made Sketches #542 challenges. The adorable Sweet Songbird stamp set paired so well with the GDP colors of Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party, and Daffodil Delight, along with the neutral Basic Black.
Without further ado, here’s my card:
Here are the challenge banners:
Measurements:
The Parakeet Party base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent fold.
I trimmed the white cardstock background after running it through my cut and emboss machine using the Timber 3D embossing folder. The final measurement is 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
Next, I embossed a piece of Tahitian Tide cardstock using the Timber 3D embossing folder. Then, I trimmed it to 2-1/2 by 5-1/4 inches. Once I had it trimmed, I lined up the Tahitian Tide embossing with the embossing on the white cardstock and adhered the pieces together.
The white cardstock for the inside of the card also measures 5-1/4 by 4 inches.
The last measurement belongs to the Parakeet Party 2-1/2 by 6 inch piece of In Color 6 x 6 inch DSP for the envelope flap.
Putting it Together:
I used the largest circle in the Stylish Shapes die set to crop the white cardstock mat under the bird. Then, I used my Daffodil Delight Stamping Write Marker to outline the circle.
The adorable songbird is stamped in Tahitian Tide ink.
Next, I punched out the bird. Then, I used scraps of the Tahitian Tide 6 x 6 DSP (designer series paper) and of Daffodil Delight 6 x 6 inch DSP to punch the beak and wing.
I stamped the sentiment, the next, notes, and the bird’s eyes using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
At first, I stamped the branch in Soft Suede. However, after reading the GDP guidelines, I needed to go back and color the branch using my Basic Gray marker.
I stamped the leaves using Parakeet Party ink, and the flowers using Daffodil Delight ink. Then, I added three small Tahitian Tide in color dots to the center of each flower.
I used two of the banner dies from the Stylish Shapes die set for the sentiment. The bottom banner is cropped from the same Daffodil Delight cardstock as the beak. I outlined the white cardstock sentiment using the Tahitian Tide Stamping Write Marker, then added dimensionals under it. The Daffodil Delight banner is adhered directly to the blue cardstock and fits under the white circle.
Next, I added dimensionals under the bird and nest and adhered them to the circle.
I used a thank you sentiment from the Best Year stamp set on the inside of the card. I also stamped the smaller bird and song notes on the inside.
Finally, I punched a 1 inch circle out of Daffodil Delight DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal. With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Welcome to the new Cardz 4 Galz challenge! Billie A, our host for this two week challenge, chose 2 or more DSP patterns for the theme. When you are finished here, I hope you will visit the challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team has created. There’s lots of inspiration, and I hope you play along with us!
I decided to use the 6 x 6 inch DSP for the new In Colors for my card. The Natural Prints bundle seemed to be a good choice for these bright 2022 – 2024 In Colors.
Here’s my card:
As a design team member, I really enjoy looking at and commenting on the entries in our galleries. Another perk is that I get introduced to new challenges through the gallery entries, and that’s how I found the Sketch Saturday challenge blog. Here’s the sketch I used for inspiration:
Measurements:
I actually had looked at the wrong page in my planner and thought I needed to make a card used rectangles. However, that challenge isn’t until the end of the month. <shrugging my shoulders> Therefore, with triangles in mind, I decided to used Parakeet Party and Starry Sky accented by Sweet Sorbet DSPs.
The Starry Sky base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
After I ran a piece of white cardstock through my cut and emboss machine using the Fern 3D embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
The Sweet Sorbet DSP mat measures 5-3/8 by 2-1/8 inches. I also used this DSP for the envelope flap, and that measures 6 by 2-1/2 inches.
Then, I trimmed both the Parakeet Party and Starry Sky DSP patterns down to a 2 inch strip. From there, I trimmed three 2 inch squares from each DSP pattern. Next, I cut the two inch squares in half diagonally to create triangles.
I played around with the arrangement of the triangles and finally decided to create parallelograms using the triangles. (Yes, I am that math person and I’ve loved the word “parallelogram” from the time I learned the name of the shape.)
What I Did:
Using the Nature’s Prints stamp set, I stamped the largest spray of leaves in Sweet Sorbet twice. One spray was cropped using the coordinating die and I stamped one on the piece of white cardstock for the inside.
I did the same thing with Starry Sky ink for the wheat-looking sprays. I cropped two for the outside of the card, and stamped one on the white cardstock for the inside.
Then, I stamped the front of the envelope to match the inside card panel.
The sentiment also comes from this same stamp set, and I cropped it using the label in the die set. I wanted the label to stand out from the white embossed background, so I outlined it using my Sweet Sorbet marker.
Next, I added some tear and tape to the back of the Sweet Sorbet DSP panel and cut two lengths of the metallic ribbon. I used a glue dot in the center of the DSP panel so I could create the X with ribbon. The tear and tape on the back held the ends of the lengths of ribbon in place.
I only put dimensionals on the bac of the Sweet Sorbet spray and the sentiment label. My fave adhesive, multipurpose liquid glue, adhered everything else.
I added five of the brushed brass butterflies to the front of the card to finish it off.
After punching a 1 inch circle from the Starry Sky DSP for the envelope seal, I ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and seal set.
Thank you very much for stopping by my blog today!

The Hello Ladybug bundle, found in the January – June mini-catalog, consists of a photopolymer stamp set and a ladybug builder punch. This bundle is so stinking cute! I used pretty much the same materials to create two cards, each of which is based on a challenge. I’ve loved the black, red, and white color combination since I was a teenager, and it just fits these ladybugs to a tee!
Here’s my Try Stamping on Tuesday #548 card and the challenge banner:
Here’s the card using the Fusion Bookshelf challenge and the accompanying banner:
The inside of the cards are very similiar:
Measurements:
Both cards start with a Real Red base measuring 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The striped DSP (designer series paper) is just one of the many black and white patterns from the host DSP pack of 48 – 12×12 inch papers. If you love black and white patterns, don’t miss this one! Each piece measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I also trimmed two pieces of DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flaps.
I trimmed 2 pieces of white cardstock to my usual 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the cards.
That’s it for the measurements.
Putting It Together:
Next, I used scraps of Basic Black and Real Red cardstock to punch out all the ladybugs.
I also needed 3 two inch circles punched from cardstock vellum to go under the ladybugs, which I popped up on dimensionals..
Then I cropped the scallop design from the Scallop Contours die set for the TSOT card. I used a scalloped frame from the same die set for the sentiment. In addition to the white frame, I cropped two red ones to frame the sentiment panel. Since I wanted the Fusion card to be clean and simple, I stamped the sentiment onto the embossed strip. It would’ve been easier if I had done that before using the embossing folder. However, the Stamparatus made it relatively easy.
While I was using the cut and emboss machine, I embossed a strip of white for the Fusion Bookshelf card using the bark 3D embossing folder.
Then I wrapped Real Red sheer ribbon around each of the white panels and tied a bow for each. I used a mini-glue dot under each bow to hold it in place.
My favorite adhesive is the multipurpose liquid glue, and I used that to adhere everything except the ladybugs. I even used it to adhere the vellum to the DSP, making sure that I only placed the glue where it would be covered by a ladybug.
I finished the fronts off with three red dots on each white panel.
After stamping the sentiment on the inside panels, I stamped that adorable ladybug in the bottom corner. Since the stamp set is photopolymer, the two-stamp process for this cute critter was a breeze.
Finishing Up:
I also stamped a ladybug on the bottom right-hand corner of the front of the envelope.
I wanted something red for the envelope seals, so I stamped a bunch of the dots used for the ladybug wings on a scrap of Real Red. Then, I punched out two one-inch circles and ran them through my XYRON create-a-sticker machine.
Finally, I trimmed the DSP on the envelope flaps.
With that, I’d finished two coordinated card, envelope, and seal sets of cute critters. Adorable!
