Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month, the theme is our Favorites from the New Catalog. We hope to inspire you with our creations today! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I love so many products in the new catalog, and my wish list keeps growing when I see new creations posted on social media and/or blogs. However, I think one of my very favorite things is the Basic card design sketches on page 22 of the catalog.
Here’s my card:
In May, I was sick and completely lost my mojo. These sketches became my creative lifeline when I was well enough to get back into my “studio”, AKA my Blue Room. You can see some of those posts here, here, here, and here. As you can tell, some of the cards use retired products. Since they were the predetermined themes for challenges of which I am a design team member, I used what I have.
Here’s a look at the annual catalog sketches:
I used the sixth sketch from the right on the top row for this card. Have fun with the sketches, or use them as an inspirational starting point. We’ve all started cards with one idea in mind, but during the creative process it can morph into something different. Enjoy the process!
Measurements:
You will need:
- 1 piece of Smoky Slate cardstock trimmed to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
- 1 piece of the Take to the Sky DSP (designer series paper) trimmed to 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches
- Another piece of the DSP trimmed to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
- Don’t forget to punch a 1-inch circle from coordinating DSP and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
- 3 different pieces of Take to the Sky DSP, each trimmed to 3 inches by 2 inches for the front of the card.
- 1 piece of white cardstock, 1 of which is trimmed to 5-1/4 by 4 inches for the inside of the card.
- 1 piece of cardstock for stamping the plane and the sentiment
Stamping, Coloring, Adhering:
- Unless otherwise noted, the pieces of the card were adhered using multipurpose liquid glue
- Using Night of Navy ink, stamp the front sentiment on white cardstock and the inside sentiment on the piece of white cardstock trimmed to 5-1/4 by 4 inches
- Using Copper Clay ink, stamp the largest plane on white cardstock. Then, stamp the medium plane on the inside panel.
- Color the wings of the larger plane using the Smoky Slate blends combo
- Crop the plane and sentiment using the Adventurous Sky dies
- Adhere the 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inch DSP to the Smoky Slate card base
- After dry-fitting your 3 pieces of DSP, adhere to the DSP
- Use dimensionals under the plane and sentiment and adhere on the front of the card
- With that, you’ve finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

Great card, Sue! Love how you showed the catalog page with sketches!
Love the card Sue, and what a great idea to use those sketches!!
I agree 100% with your catalog favorites both in stamps and the nifty sketches Sue! So fun to see how you put your own stamp on our Pals Hop!
Sue, you’ve been hit with a lot this year but you have certainly worked around all of those issues with patience and determination. I love this card! This is one of the best bundles and I love how you used layers of the great DSP that goes with it. Thank you SO much for joining the blog hop, my friend.
So happy you have your mojo back Sue! Love the sketches too. Great card today 🙂
Great card! Good use of the sketches in the catalog.
