Welcome to the newest bi-weekly challenge for Cardz 4 Guyz!  This time, our host Deb picked Valentine’s Day cards for a guy.  When you finish here, I hope you will hop over to the challenge website and see what the rest of the design team created.  As always, the cards are fabulous and full of inspiration.  Please don’t forget to add your creation to the gallery!

I’m in the process of finishing up a set of 19 cards for my great-nephew to exchange at his pre-school “party” next week.

Here’s my card:

I created this by mixing some new products with some older products and previous Paper Pumpkin kits.  It’s a very simple postcard type card, which he will just be able to “sign” on the back.  He’s 2-1/2 years old, so “signing” it is a generous statement.  I did add a stamp on the back just so it’s not plain.

Here’s the past Paper Pumpkin stamp set I used:

What I Did:

Since I mass-produced these cards, I did each step for all the cards at once.  This process made the whole thing much easier.

  • The Parakeet Party base measures 4-7/8 by 3-7/8 inches.
  • The white cardstock on the top measures 4-3/4 by 3-3/4 inches.
  • I used the Framed Florets die to crop the oval outline of hearts on the white cardstock.
  • While I cropped, I made sure to save some of the little hearts for the cat’s nose, which I colored using the dark Calypso Coral blend.
  • Next, I stamped the cat and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black directly on the white cardstock. Then, I colored the fish using the dark Calypso Coral blend.
  • After punching 19 labels and the ribbon holes from white cardstock, I grabbed my Parakeet Party ink.
  • Using a previous Paper Pumpkin multiple heart stamp, I stamped off twice before stamping the hearts on each label.
  • Then, I went back and stamped the Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment, from the same Paper Pumpkin, in Tuxedo Black.
  • Add dimensionals under the sentiment tag.
  • Finally, I folded the Parakeet Party ribbon and put it through the punched ribbon hole. Then, I tied a square knot around the ribbon using Calypso Coral baker’s twine.
  • Now, I just need to finish taking care of the sentiment tags on all the postcards!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Have a Peachy Day!
