Welcome to the September Fun Fold Challenge Blog Hop! Those of us in the hop are current Stampin’ UP! demonstrators. However, everyone, no matter the supplies you use, is invited to play along with the recurring Creative Creases fun fold challenge! I hope to see you in the challenge gallery!
My fun fold card uses the Scary Cute bundle from the current July – December 2022 mini-catalog. This set is absolutely adorable and the coordinating glittered washi tape is beyond fabulously sparkly! The best part about it is that you will not have glitter all over your desk from this washi tape! Trust me – I would not use it if it shed all over the place!
For Christmas last year, I made my now 6 year old great-niece a card with a Grinch tag, which she used as a bookmark. So, I made my card, and the coordinating bookmark, her this set for Halloween:
Since finding the Connie Stewart video for this fun fold, I’ve already created it a number of times. You can see two of those cards here and here. Don’t tell anyone, but it is a super easy fun fold! Her video makes the whole process a breeze. Truly, if you can trim and score paper, this fun fold is for you! Her video explains the card with step-by-step directions. Once you create this fun fold, you will be hooked, so be prepared to use it over and over and over.
Measurements:
- The Smoky Slate base measures 5-1/4 by 11 inches. It’s scored at 1-3/4 and 3-1/2 inches from either end of the length of the base.
- I also trimmed 3 pieces of Smoky Slate to 1-3/4 by 4 inches for the flaps.
- The Gorgeous Grape mat for the front was cropped using the Scary Silhouettes dies, as was the black frame with the trees.
- HINT: If you are going to use the spooky house inside the black frame, there’s an easy way to crop it so the fence sits perfectly inside the frame. I used the negative piece from the frame and placed the house die so it lined up with the bottom of the frame. When I cropped it, the fence pieces wound up being the exact same as the frame. I didn’t need to trim it at all. Score!
- I needed one piece of Basic White cardstock for the inside and measures 3-3/4 by 5 inches.
- I used a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock onto which I mounted the Smoky Slate base. The Gorgeous Grape piece measures 5-1/2 by 4-1/4 inches.
- The gray and black polka dot DSP (designer series paper) measures 3-3/4 by 4-7/8 inches. From that piece, I trimmed it down to three equal pieces measuring 1-3/8 by 3-3/4 inches. I used two for the top and bottom flaps.
- Next, I added the strips of glitter washi tape to the third piece of DSP so I had a guide.
- HINT: The black washi tape jut barely overlapped the Highland Heather washi tape and wouldn’t stick properly. Therefore, I used multipurpose liquid glue to help it stick.
- Next, I trimmed a piece of the polka dot DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
- Finally, I used two pieces of white and black polka dot DSP for the inside. Each piece measures 1-5/8 by 5-1/8 inches.
Putting the Card Together:
- Amazingly, I didn’t use any dimensionals on this card. All the pieces are adhered using multipurpose liquid glue.
- I followed Connie Stewart’s directions for assembly. However, I did add some additional touches.
- For example, I cropped the spooky cat and bats for the flaps from black cardstock using the Scary Silhouette dies. They peek out when the card is opened.
- The moon on the front started as a piece of white cardstock. I used a blending brush and Crushed Curry ink to color the piece of white and punched it using my 1-inch circle punch.
- I stamped BOO! on the front to cover an oops. It fits perfectly.
- Finally, I stamped the silhouettes in black ink on the inside, along with the trio of bats and the sentiment on the white cardstock for the inside.
The Bookmark:
- I used a piece of retired Halloween DSP for the front of the bookmark and adhered it to a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.. The bookmark measures 2-3/8 by 4-7/8 inches.
- Then, I recreated the framed mat for the front. However, this time I had room to add the spooky cat to the the top of the frame..
- I added the glitter washi tape to the back of the cardstock. One again, I had to use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the black piece of washi.
- With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, envelope seal, and bookmark set.
