My summer fun card needs to be explained a little bit. My family has been going to the beach for a week at the same place for 45 years, with the exception of 2020 for obvious reasons. It started with just my parents and siblings, along with my aunt and cousin. Since then, we’ve added two more generations and everyone starts counting down the days until the next beach week as soon as the current one ends.

Here’s my stepped up summer fun card:

This stunning DSP (designer series paper) has been sold out, but these cards can be created without the paper by just using the Waves of Inspiration bundle. Here’s a look at the inside of both cards to show off the wave in the stamp set:

For the purpose of the challenge post, I’ll share what I did for the more involved card:

Measurements:

The Pacific Point base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent card.
I trimmed a piece of Coastal Cabana and Pacific Point cardstock to 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches.
Next, I used the second and third largest layering diorama dies to crop the Pacific Point and Coastal Cabana cardstock. In order to accomplish an even layer of depth between the two layers, I used a lot (!!!) of dimensionals and mini-dimensionals on the underside of the Pacific Point cardstock.
The DSP background paper measures 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches. Since I had the DSP out, I trimmed another piece to 6 x 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. Then, I punched a 1 inch circle from coordinating DSP for the envelope seal. As always, I ran the circle through my XYRON create-a-sticker and finished off the seal.
I trimmed the white cardstock for the inside of the card to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.

Stamping and Such:

I started by using the Gentle Waves background stamp and Pacific Point ink on the same colored cardstock for the top layer of the card. The cardstock is a bit larger than the stamp. Therefore, the first time I stamped it, I made sure the bottom waves lined up where I wanted them. Then, I just reinked the top part of the stamp to fill in the top of the cardstock.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Happy and Heartfelt stamp set, in black ink on white cardstock. I also stamped the pilings and pelican on white cardstock using Basic Gray ink.
I wanted the rope around the pilings to have dimension, so I added baker’s twine around following the stamped rope. In order to get thinner twine, I pulled just one thread out of a length of twine and used that.
I cropped the sentiment using one of the new stylish shapes dies. These dies are fabulous and a must have!
Then, I cropped the pelican and pilings and the wave using the waves dies.
Next, I added some shimmery paste to the wave using a craft stick.
Before I adhered the dimensionals on the layering diorama pieces, I adhered the wave to the back of the Pacific Point cardstock. Then, I started cutting mini-dimensionals into quarters. This was interesting, to say the least. I’m not 100% happy with the way the dimensionals came out, so I will probably redo them very, very, very carefully.
All I had to do was the inside of the card. I used Coastal Cabana and stamped the wave on the white cardstock. Without re-inking, I stamped the front of the envelope as well.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
