Welcome to a new Cardz 4 Galz biweekly challenge!  Lynda chose the theme of “princess” for challenge # 158.  I hope you will pop over to the blog to see the variety of princess cards to inspire you.  The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to see how you interpret our theme.

Here’s my card:

  • The Basic Gray card base measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches. I scored it at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent fold.
  • The perfectly feminine Flirty Flamingo DSP (designer series paper), which is from the Pattern Party Host DSP pack, measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I also trimmed a piece of the DSP to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap. This pattern is the reverse side of the pattern I used for this week’s Cardz 4 Guyz #282 challenge. You can see that card here.
  • I used my one-inch circle punch to punch a seal for the envelope from a scrap piece of Basic Gray 6×6 inch DSP.
  • I used a stitched rectangle die to crop the swan focal image panel. This panel measures4-1/4 inches by 3 inches.
  • While I had the white cardstock out, I trimmed a piece to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches for the inside panel.
  • The Basic Gray mat for the sentiment measures 3 inches by 1 inch. I stamped and cropped the sentiment from a scrap piece of white cardstock.

What I Did for this Easy-Peasy Card:

  • I went back and forth about coloring or not coloring the swan. I’m pleased with my decision to not color her. She’s gorgeous just the way she is.
  • After deciding to use the Flirty Flamingo metallic ribbon, I used a gold Wink of Stella to color the swan’s crown.
  • The white cardstock seemed to just blend into the DSP behind it. Therefore, I used the Flirty Flamingo marker to outline the focal panel. That little bit of color really makes the white cardstock stand out.
  • Before adhering the DSP to the cardstock, I wrapped a length of ribbon around the DSP and tied it in a bow. I have to say, sometimes I can tie a pretty decent bow. This was one of those times.
  • I used multipurpose liquid adhesive to adhere everything but under the Basic Grey sentiment mat. There are dimensionals under the sentiment mat. Looking at that mat now, I can see I didn’t do a very good job of straddling the mat over the ribbon. I am going to have to fix that.
  • Finally, I added 4 pastel pearls to the corners of the sentiment panel. They aren’t Flirty Flamingo, but they are really, really close.
