I needed a birthday card for a 4 yo boy who is now being raised by a family member because both his parents died a few months ago. A fellow SU! demo had asked our group if we would send him a card for his first birthday without his parents. I started pulling things together from the Cupcakes and Carousels DSP stack, then grabbed the Tasty Treats SAB stamp set, Stampin Up! Write Markers, some mini-dimensionals, and this is what evolved. As I was creating this I realized that this one card hits 2 challenges for this week: #PCC251 (new to you) and #GDP095 (kids).
Here’s my card:
I started this process with a portrait orientation, but when I decided on the truck, I switched it around. I originally thought the pancake stack was a piece of cake when I stamped it and the cupcake in the truck window~ oops. I used colors taken from the DSP to color in the truck, and added Basic Grey for the metal parts. I wanted the greeting to kind of look like a swinging sign, but needed something to balance out the weight of the card, so I wrapped brown bakers twine around the card.
When I thought I was finished, I just kept staring at the card because I knew something was off and realized my truck looked like it was just floating. So, I cut a small strip of Early Espresso, which is also in the DSP, and made myself a road of sorts. Now I was happy and done.
Here’s the challenge sketches:
Have a Peachy day!
